This
engineering achievement represents Scotland’s wide variety of skills
and talent for innovation, along side great inventors like James Logie
Baird and Alexander Graham Bell, ship builders and the steel industry.
Scottish engineers have for centuries been involved in great
engineering projects throughout the world. Opened on 4th September 1964
by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, it was, at the time, the largest
suspension bridge in Europe, fourth largest in the world. The bridge
spans the Firth of Forth connecting the Kingdom of Fife with Edinburgh,
the Nations capital. Photograph from south Queensferry.
